NASA’s Victor Glover’s Favorite Oatmeal Cookies

Victor Glover's Favorite Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Astronaut Victor Glover has traveled around the moon, but when Michele Norris asked him to share a recipe that brings him comfort, his answer was delightfully down to earth: oatmeal raisin cookies.

Not just any oatmeal raisin cookies, either. Victor swears by the classic Quaker Oats recipe printed inside the lid of the familiar round canister. He told Michele that in all his 50 years, it's the best oatmeal cookie he's ever had.

And he knows exactly how he likes them: soft, bendy, and chewy.

With a lifetime of family recipes to choose from, Victor picked a humble cookie that has been a constant in his life. It's a sweet reminder that sometimes the foods that bring us the greatest comfort aren't elaborate family secrets. They're the simple recipes that have been right in front of us all along.

We're sharing Quaker Oats' classic Vanishing Oatmeal Raisin Cookies in honor of Victor's visit to Your Mama's Kitchen.

Kitchen Crew Notes‍ ‍

Michele baked a batch herself, putting her own spin on Victor's favorite by swapping the raisins for Craisins (dried cranberries). As soon as the cookies came out of the oven, she finished them with a sprinkle of flaky salt for a little sweet-and-salty magic.
